Our Mission

We are dedicated to providing a welcoming space where diverse audiences can experience high-quality performances, cinema, educational opportunities, and cultural events. Through our commitment to artistic excellence, community engagement, and accessibility, we aim to inspire creativity, foster local talent, and celebrate the vibrant cultural heritage of our region
Our History
The Lewis Theatre opened in downtown Lewisburg, WV in 1939, where "small" vaudeville entertainment was performed live before film showings. It has operated almost continuously since then, serving the local community and visitors. The Lewis Theatre is featured in the West Virginia Historic Theatre Trail, a project of the Preservation Alliance of WV and the State Historic Preservation Office. It is also listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing building of the Lewisburg downtown historic district.
In 2007, board members of Trillium Performing Arts Collective, formed ALLArts, LLC., which then purchased the Lewis Theatre building. ALLArts became the manager of the building, including the movie business and Trillium became the art company in residence for nearly two decades. From 2007 until today, many upgrades have been made to the space, including the installation of stadium seating, a digital projector, new lobby space and ADA Accessible seating and restroom.
In February 2023, The Lewis was sold to Court&Stratton, LLC and Susan Syner and Mary Baldwin took over ownership of the theatre. The duo plan to continue the tradition of providing cinema, live music and performances and creating a space that continues to foster community and arts!
